Madera Canyon

Saturday 1/30/2016 -  Took a quick ride to Madera Canyon, about 40 miles southeast of our home.

 Snow at the top of the mountain of Mt. Wrightston, there is no road to get there and the only way to the top is to hike it, the altitude is 9400 feet.

Some nice picnic areas and small stream along the way.

Tortilla Flats

Ride up to Apache Junction, Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats

Went by Canyon Lake, one of the smallest of 3 lakes in the area. 

 

Mount Lemmon - Wednesday 1/20/16

With the temps in the 70s we took a ride up Mt Lemmon wednesday. Its a great ride and only an hour and 20 minutes to the top from our house.

Some awesome scenery going up the mountain.

And snow!!

And a ski lodge! Its another mile further up the mountain, but road up was pretty wet and icy so we didn't risk it.

Kitt Peak - Sunday 1/3/16

Took a quick ride up to the Kitt Peak Observatory
About an hour ride from our house.

Beautiful day, warm temp of 70 deg.

Kitt Peak  has an altitude of 6882 feet, thats about 600 feet higher than Mount Washington in New Hamphsire.

The Kitt Peak Observatory has 26 telescopes and is the largest array of optical and radio telescopes in the world.

At the top of the mountain there was snow!!
